There have been several major earthquakes around the globe since January: a 7.1 shook Tibet in early January and killed over 120, a 7.6 in February off the coast of Honduras was the Caribbean's largest four-year record holder, triggering temporary tsunami warnings; and a crushing 7.7 in central Myanmar on March 28 resulted in thousands of deaths. Last week, on April 5, a 7.1 earthquake off Papua New Guinea sparked tsunami warnings. Seismologists explain this seeming spike as a temporary cluster and not an indication of any untypical seismic trend.
