Artificial Intelligence (AI) is bringing about a revolutionary shift in this world. But do we really need AI for our forestry industry? What impact is AI having on the preservation and management of our priceless forests? In today’s world forest health has been declining day by day. One major reason for this is the improper and inadequate maintenance and upkeep of forests. This calls for the need for a new and proper system and tools for the management of these forests like AI-powered drones equipped with advanced sensors and machine learning algorithms. Such technologies do not exist today but these can be a game changer in the future without much human intervention. The AI powered could monitor the forest 24/7 and the machine learning algorithms could examine the data to provide the necessary solution in the shortest time possible. The drones would provide a constant surveillance on the forest detecting any unusual activities in order to protect and maintain the forest and save it from natural disasters like wildfires, drought etc. Drones can be aimed to protect forests from human intervention who undertake activities like slash and burn agriculture, large scale land conversion which may lead to landslides and soil erosion. The sensors and machine learning algorithms can be coded in such a way to identify signs of stress and illness, monitor the health of forests, and oversee initiatives aimed at restoring them. Continuous monitoring by drones will provide live data to officials so strategies could be built to maintain ecosystem balance and environment. Drones can be fitted with infrared cameras and machine algorithms can be used to examine and study the images taken which reveal the data about the arrangement and color of leaves and the presence of any unwanted substances which may impede growth. AI mechanisms  will be able to use the pictures and detect the problems to provide the ramifications in forests quickly. Cameras and GPS tracking would be installed to give precise location of the suspicious activities in unauthorized areas. This way illegal logging can be prevented so the action can be taken and the forest environment can be protected. The AI powered drone would be fitted with controlled mechanisms and tools such as automatic censored heat detector, water cannons and fire extinguishers to combat natural calamities like forest fires which may occur. They would spot specify the areas and take the necessary action so that human firefighters are not required in dangerous areas. AI drones will be cost effective than older methods of mapping and surveying and carrying manual surveys on such large tracts of land. AI drones would be able to cover larger areas in smaller intervals of time without requiring much human interaction.  AI systems can swiftly identify changes in forest cover and provide the necessary information so action can be taken. In conclusion the advancement of current drones to AI powered novel drones with detecting sensors and machine learning algorithms for management, protection and betterment of our forests, safeguarding our natural ecosystem from any altercations also minimizing the need for any human intervention.
